Every fall, boots come back into style. This is because the fall, as fashion writers point out with the air of excited discovery every year, is colder and wetter than the summer. (They will also painstakingly explain to you that clothes are darker and heavier this season.)

So we saw a lot of boots on men's runways last spring (when the fall shows were happening), boots both short and tall, heavily lugged and pointily urban. This is not in itself surprising.
